Baseball Falls For Just Second Time All Season

Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The Centenary baseball team fell 16-4 to Cal Lutheran on Wednesday in a non-conference game at Sparky Anderson Field.

The Gents (7-2) lost for just the second time this season and first time since dropping game two of a doubleheader to Louisiana College at home back on Feb. 15. Cal Lutheran improved to 10-0-1 with the win. Wednesday's contest was the first of five this week and weekend in the Los Angeles area.

Centenary jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning but the Kingsmen scored 12 runs in the third through the fifth innings to secure the victory. Junior short stop Peyton Cormane (Pineville, La.), Senior right fielder Cody Crowder (Shepherd, Texas), and senior left fielder Bryce Kozeny (Frisco, Texas) each had two hits to lead the Centenary offense.

Centenary will face Occidental on Thursday and Whittier College twice on Feb. 29, and the University of La Verne on March 1.

The Gents then face Louisiana College again in a makeup game on Monday, March 9 in Pineville (game originally scheduled for Feb. 14) and open SCAC play at home March 13-14 against Trinity for a three-game series.
