Shreveport - The Centenary men's soccer team played the LeTourneau University YellowJackets to a 1-1 tie on Sunday night at Mayo Field.

The Gents (1-3-3) and YellowJackets (2-2-2) battled for 90 minutes on a humid evening in a competitive non-conference contest between two schools separated by just an hour. All three of Centenary's ties this season have come at home and Sunday was its second in a row after playing ETBU to a scoreless draw on Friday night.

The goal scored on Sunday by the YellowJackets was the first by the opposition allowed by the Gents on their home turf this season. The three ties this season matches the all-time single season record for most ties in a season in the D3 era shared by the 2014 and 2017 teams.

Gents' senior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and made a season-high six saves. LeTourneau GK Colton Johnson also went the distance and recorded five saves. Centenary senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) continued his scoring barrage of late as he netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season and ninth of his career. Senior D Quentin Helm (Denton, Texas) was credit with the assist, the second of his career. Petreas is the team leader in goals and points (10) and tied for the team lead in assists (2). Petreas is now tied for fifth all-time in the current division III era (2011-present) in both goals (9) and points (21).

LeTourneau finished with a slight advantage in shots (18-14) and took six corner kicks to the Gents' four. There were 21 fouls called and four cards were issues. Petreas took a game-high five shots, two on goal, cashing in on one. Emad Mohamed led the YellowJackets with four shots, one on goal. Five Gents played all 90 minutes while five YellowJackets did so.

Centenary will now embark upon its longest road trip of the season as the Gents will play their next five matches away from home beginning with a non-conference match versus McMurry on Friday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. in Irving, Texas.
