Shreveport- The Centenary women's soccer team opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an impressive 2-0 shutout victory over the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Tuesday evening at Atkins Field.

The Ladies (3-4-2, 1-0 SCAC) won for the second night in a row after posting a 15-0 win on Monday night over Tougaloo College. The Eagles fell to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Centenary won its conference opener for the first time since the 2020 season and recorded its first conference win since Oct. 7, 2022 when the Maroon and White defeated Austin College 5-1 at home. Tuesday also marked the Ladies' first shutout in conference play since blanking the University of Dallas 1-0 on Oct. 9, 2022.

Centenary, which set a division III era (2011-present) program record for most goals scored in a match in the division III era on Monday evening, improved to 3-1 at home this season and recorded its third shutout of the season and second in a row.

The Ladies took a 1-0 lead on Tuesday night as senior MF Aubrey Burkhardt (Bossier City, La.) scored her second goal of the season in the 10th minute. Burkhardt buried a beautiful high-arching ball off of a free kick into the top of the net past Eagles' GK Melanie Glossup.

Centenary took that 1-0 lead into halftime and the score remained that way until the 57th minute when sophomore MF Sarah Crenshaw (Alexandria, La.) scored her second goal of the season with double assists credited to Burkhardt and freshman F Jenevieve Willis (Bossier City, La.). Crenshaw found the net for the second night in a row after scoring her first-career goal in the blowout win over Tougaloo on Monday. Willis, who recorded a hat trick on Monday, tallied her first assist of the season.

Sophomore GK Kaniyah Hill (Tyler, Texas) went the distance in goal for the Ladies and made four saves in her 90 minutes while recording her first solo shutout this season after combining with sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) in Monday's.

The Ladies finished with a 15-8 advantage in shots and took five corner kicks to the Eagles' three. Each team was whistled for seven fouls and there were no cards issues in the match.

The Ladies' three-game homestand concludes on Friday with another SCAC contest against the University of St. Thomas Celts at 7 p.m.
