Ladies Tie Wiley 1-1 On Wednesday
The Centenary women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against the Wiley University Wildcats on Wednesday in a non-conference contest at Pemberton Field.
Marshall, Texas - The Centenary women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against the Wiley University Wildcats on Wednesday in a non-conference contest at Pemberton Field.
The Ladies (1-4-2) and the Wildcats (1-6-1) were facing each other for the second time in four days following Centenary's 1-0 shutout win in Shreveport on Sunday.
Centenary scored first as sophomore MF Caila Baldwin (Gretna, La.) found the net in the ninth minute for her first-career goal to give the Ladies an early 1-0 lead. Sophomore MF Sarah Crenshaw (Alexandria, La.) took a shot on goal which deflected off of Wiley GK Destiny Allison and right to Baldwin who snuck it in the goal as Crenshaw picked up her second assist of the season.
The Ladies' lead lasted until the 64th minute when Yajaira Hernandez scored her fourth goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1. Centenary sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) went the distance for the Ladies in the goal and recorded five saves in her 90 minutes of action. Allison also played the whole match and made six saves for Wiley.
The Ladies finished with 13 shots to the Wildcats' 12 and Wiley took three corner kicks while Centenary took one. Each team was whistled for seven fouls and Wiley picked up the match's only yellow card.
The Ladies return home next Monday to face Tougaloo College (0-3) in a non-conference match set for 5 p.m.
