Sherman, Texas - The Centenary women's soccer team was shutout 3-0 by the Austin College 'Roos on Friday night in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Jerry E. Apple Stadium.
The Ladies (3-6-2, 1-2 SCAC) lost their second match in a row after a home loss to the University of St. Thomas last Friday and are 0-4-2 on the road this season. Austin College improved to 7-2-2 and 1-2 in league play and the 'Roos upped their home mark to 4-1-1. The all-time series is now tied at 10-10-2.
Austin College scored all three of its goals in the first half and recorded its eighth shutout of the season. The 'Roos outshot the Ladies 15-6 and took the only three corner kicks of the match. Austin College was whistled for 16 fouls while Centenary picked up five.
Emeri Watson gave the 'Roos a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute as she scored at the 16:30 mark with the assist credited to Jetta Broquard. Laney Lambert's goal at the 28:49 mark made it 2-0 with Emma Boehmke assisting. Miranda Countryman's goal made it 3-0 in the 35th minute (34:53) with the assist going to Lambert.
Sophomore GK Kaniyah Hill (Tyler, Texas) started in the net for the Ladies and played the first 37:32 and allowed all three goals. Sophomore GK/MF Zoe Keller (Waggaman, La.) replaced Hill late in the first half and went the rest of the way, playing 52:28 and did not allow a goal. Kenedie Lane went the distance for the 'Roos in goal and recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
The Ladies will complete the weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon as they face the University of Dallas Crusaders in Irving, Texas at 2 p.m. The Crusaders (2-6-1, 0-2-1 SCAC) tied University of the Ozarks 2-2 on Friday night at home.
