Shreveport - The Centenary men's basketball team is set for another home weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests beginning with a Friday evening matchup versus the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Gold Dome.

The Gents (7-6, 2-2 SCAC) will complete the weekend on Sunday afternoon versus Southwestern University (1-13, 0-5 SCAC) at Noon. Centenary finished 2023 on a high note by earning a hard-fought 77-71 victory over the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday afternoon at home. Texas Lutheran enters Friday's contest at 3-11 overall and 2-3 in SCAC play. The Bulldogs are 0-5 away from home this season but have won two games in a row overall, defeating Austin College and Dallas on their home court last weekend.
Centenary aims to continue its impressive play at home as the Maroon and White are a perfect 4-0 so far this season, 15-2 in its last 17 games, and 39-8 in its last 47. The Gents shot an even 40 % (20-50) from the floor on Sunday, 31.8 % (7-22) from beyond the arc, and a solid 76.9 % (30-39) from the free throw line.
The Gents are shooting 39.9 % from the floor for the season, 31 % from beyond the arc, and 71.6 % from the FT line while averaging 75.1 PPG. Centenary has shot 40 % or better seven times this season and done so in four of its last five games. Texas Lutheran averages 74.0 PPG and shoots 41.1 % as a team. The Gents rank fifth in the league in scoring while the Bulldogs are sixth. The Gents have won three of the last five meetings between the teams.
Senior F Seth Thomas (Kilgore, Texas) enters Friday's game as the SCAC's leading scorer (19.5 PPG) and ranks 65th nationally in division III. Thomas has reached double figures in all 13 games this season and has recorded three double-doubles and led all scorers with 22 points in Sunday's win over Colorado College. He just missed his fourth-straight double-double as he grabbed a team and game-high nine rebounds. He was 3-9 from the floor, 1-2 from beyond the arc, and 15-18 from the free throw line in 37 minutes with four assists and a steal. Thomas also ranks fourth in the league in both rebounds per game (8.1) and assists per game (3.0).
Senior G AJ Hall (Thibodaux, La.) scored 13 points in 21 minutes off the bench against Colorado College on 5-8 shooting as he was 3-3 at the FT line with two rebounds and one assist. Hall is averaging 8.8 PPG this season and has reached double figures three times. Senior G Tykeem Singleton (Fort Worth, Texas) made his season debut on Sunday and was one of three Gents to score 11 points as senior G Jalen Behr (Athens, Ga.) and junior G Craig Collier (North Little Rock, Ark.) also did so. Sophomore G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) scored four, junior F Jakobi Greenleaf (Houston, Texas) had two, and senior G Braeden Board (Rayne, La.) scored three as he was also making his first appearance this season.
TLU senior G Xavier Phillips leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 11.8 PPG and is followed closely by sophomore G Mason Wallace (11.3 PPG). Junior F Easton Allen is TLU's leading rebounder at 6.4 boards/game. TLU snapped a nine-game losing streak with its two home wins last weekend. The Bulldogs wrap up the weekend on Sunday at St. Thomas in Houston.

Centenary, the only SCAC program to advance to four-straight tournament semifinals, will host the 2024 SCAC Tournament Feb. 23-25 at the Gold Dome. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the event.
