Shreveport - The Centenary men's basketball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Gents blew past Millsaps last Tuesday night in a non-conference contest by a score of 85-45 in the Gold Dome.
The Gents (5-5) won their second game in a row and evened the season series against the Majors (2-8). Millsaps defeated Centenary 75-62 in Jackson, Miss. in the previous meeting between the teams. The Maroon and White continued their stellar play at home, winning for the 38th time in their last 46 games and are 14-2 in their last 16 games in the Gold Dome. Centenary has now scored at least 85 points in a game five times this season.
Senior F Seth Thomas (Kilgore, Texas) continued his impressive play with a game-high 27 points and added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Centenary raced out to 44-19 lead at halftime and outscored the Majors 41-26 to cruise the victory.
The Gents will return to league play next Tuesday with a road contest against the University of St. Thomas in Houston on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
