Harrison Completes 100-200 Freestyle Sweep Again, Swimming Falls to Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Senior Zach Harrison remains undefeated in the 100 and 200 freestyle this season for the Gents, while junior Elena Ring swept the 50 and 100 butterfly to lead the Ladies as Centenary swimming dropped a pair of dual meets at Southwestern Saturday morning, October 21.

The Gents fell 163-96, while the Ladies lost 161-62.

Along with Harrison's sprint freestyle sweep, sophomore Jordan St. Pierre completed the 500 (5:07.31) and 1,000 freestyle (10:37.87) sweep. Meanwhile, Harrison clocked in at 48.86 in the 100 and 1:48.31 in the 200 freestyles.

On the Ladies side, Ring won the 50 butterfly, touching the wall in 24.91. She also claimed the 100 butterfly title with a time of 1:07.11. Rounding out the Centenary wins, senior Caitlyn Faulhaber took the 50 freestyle in 24.91, while junior McRee Smith won the 50 butterfly with a time of 24.91.

Centenary swept the second spot in the 100 breaststroke on both the Ladies (sophomore Jessi Jordan, 1:15.47) and Gents (senior Anthony McDonald, 1:02.62) side. Sophomore Eddie Dyess and senior Mason Kay finished second and third in the 50 backstroke with times of 28.01 and 28.29, respectively. Rounding out individual seconds, freshman Jesse Hageman finished runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.55.

In relays on the Gents side, the 200 medley quartet of Kay, Smith, McDonald, and Harrison took second with a time of 142.57. That same four also took fourth in the 400 fre-estyle relay with a time of 3:30.16.

Centenary swimming returns to action for its final meet of 2017 at the Hendrix Invitational December 1-2.
