The Gents (3-2-1) dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to the UT Dallas Comets on Sunday evening in a non-conference match at Mayo Field in their most recent action. The Bulldogs (3-2) blanked McMurry 9-0 at home on Sunday. The teams met once last season with the Bulldogs recording a 3-0 home win on April 17.

Centenary aims to rebound from an emotional loss on Sunday at home after the Gents and Comets battled to a scoreless tie for nearly 88 minutes until UT Dallas found the net at the 87:28 mark for a 1-0 lead. Centenary suffered its first home loss of the season and only lost for the fifth time in its last 22 matches as the Gents are an impressive 14-5-3 in that span. The Gents have also allowed one goal or less in nine-consecutive matches dating back to last season. Centenary recorded a 2-1 victory on Friday night over the Belhaven University Blazers.

Centenary senior GK Patrick Riley (Baton Rouge, La.) played an outstanding match despite the loss as he recorded a season-best and career single game-high eight saves. Each team was aggressive on offense despite the score as the Comets got off 18 shots and the Gents 10. UT Dallas took five corner kicks while the Gents took a pair. The match featured 16 fouls and three yellow cards.

The Gents enter the weekend as one of the top defensive teams in the conference as they are number one in goals against average (0.64) and are tied for first in fewest goals allowed with four. Centenary has allowed one goal or less in nine-consecutive matches. The Gents' stellar defense has been anchored by their two goalkeepers, Riley and fellow senior Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.). Borchalli, despite missing the last two matches due to an injury, is ranked fourth in the conference in GAA (0.54), third in save percentage (.867), sixth in saves (13), and is first in shutouts with two. Riley is fourth in save percentage (.857), seventh in GAA (0.80) and also seventh in saves with 12.
