Gents Set To Face Austin College In SCAC Road Match

Sherman, Texas - The Centenary men's soccer team will face the Austin College 'Roos in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex.

The Gents (4-11-1, 0-6 SCAC) snapped their 10-game winning streak on Monday with a 2-1 victory over the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference contest in Marshall, Texas. The Gents have now allowed one goal or less nine times this season. The 'Roos enter Friday's action at 2-12 overall and 0-6 in SCAC play.

The Maroon and White struck first in Monday's match as junior MF Colton Howard (Keller, Texas) connected on a penalty kick in the 10th minute of the first half for a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later the Tigers evened the score as JaeShaun Osborn scored off an assist from Gabriel Alvarez.

The match stayed tied until the 69th minute when freshman MF Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.) found the net off an assist from Howard. The goal was Amato's second of his rookie season to tie senior D Diego Hernandez (Carrollton, Texas) for the team lead.

Centenary senior GK Patrick Riley (Baton Rouge, La.) played all 90 minutes to pick up the win as he recorded four saves.

The Gents will face Dallas on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in their regular-season finale.
