The Ladies (4-8) had their season-high four-game winning streak on Sunday as they were swept at home in a DH by the Concordia University Tornados, losing 5-4 in game one and 11-4 in game two. The Majors enter Saturday's play at 3-7 overall and have lost seven games in a row.
The teams met on Feb. 9 in Jackson in the season-opening series for both as the Majors recorded a DH sweep over the Ladies by scores of 6-1 and 6-5. Millsaps is 0-3 on the road this season while Centenary is 2-4 at home.
The Ladies are hitting .306 as a team with a .373 on-base percentage and are slugging .348. They have scored 65 total runs for an average of 5.4 per game and have posted six games with 10+ hits and have done so in five of their last six games. The Ladies tallied a season-high 14 hits in their 6-5 loss at Millsaps last month. Centenary has a team ERA of 4.65 and team fielding percentage of .943.
Top Hitter: Senior RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) leads the Ladies with 18 hits and also has drawn a team-high 10 walks in 38 at-bats. She leads the country in stolen bases with a whopping 19 in 20 attempts. Cox is hitting a team-best .474 with a .583 OBP and is slugging an even .500 with a team-high 19 runs scored and has three RBI, a double, and 10 walks compared to just three strikeouts.
Top Pitcher: Sophomore P Riley Myers (Shreveport, La.) owns a team-best 3.59 ERA as she has made a team-high six appearances with one start. She is 1-0 with seven strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched. Myers picked up her first win of the season on March 2 against Arlington Baptist as she came on in relief and went 2.2 innings and yielded just three hits with no runs and no walks with a pair of K's.
Sophomore C Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday after hitting .625 (5-8) with seven RBI, three doubles, two runs scored, and a stolen base in four games against Arlington Baptist and Concordia last weekend. Thrasher went 4-for-7 with six RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the Ladies' DH sweep of Arlington Baptist on Saturday and posted a .750 on-base percentage over the four games and slugged 1.667. She is hitting .324 for the season (.317 OBP/.486 slugging) with a team-leading 13 RBI, 12 hits, team-high six doubles, and five runs scored.
Sophomore 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) is hitting .325 (.386 OBP/.325 slugging) with 13 hits (second on team), seven runs scored (tied for second), six RBI, four walks, and a stolen base. Sophomore 3B Morgan Dawson (Natchitoches, La.) is hitting .333 (.405 OBP/.361 slugging) with 12 hits (tied for third on team), eight RBI (second on team), five runs scored, a double, and three walks.
Senior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .229 (.293 OBP/.257 slugging) with eight hits, seven RBI, three runs scored, four walks, and a double. Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) is batting .250 (.316 OBP/.250 slugging) with eight hits, seven runs scored, three RBI, two walks, and a stolen base.
Freshman UT Janae Bland (Livingston, Texas) is off to a strong start in her rookie season as she is hitting .310 (.333 OBP/.310 slugging) with nine hits, six RBI, and four runs scored. Junior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) is hitting .357 with a .400 OBP and is slugging .429 and has the Ladies' second-lowest ERA (3.62) with a 1-0 record in three appearances. Sophomore UT River Boultinghouse (Saint Gabriel, La.) is hitting .286 with a .375 OBP and is slugging .357 with eight hits, six runs scored, two RBI, four walks, two stolen bases and a triple.
Sophomore Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) and junior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) are tied for the team lead in games started (five) and Scarbrock is tied with Myers for the lead in appearances with six. Roach is 0-3 with a 6.34 ERA and Scarbrock is 2-3 with a 4.04 ERA. She leads the team in wins and in 26.0 IP she has only walked two and struck out 11, one behind Shepherd's team-high 12. Sophomore P Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) is 0-1 in three appearances and a start and has a 3.75 ERA. She has also had 12 at-bats and has two hits, two RBI, and two walks.
The series concludes on Sunday with a single game at Noon.
