Mackenzie Cox Named To NFCA All-Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky.Senior RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) was named to the 2024 NFCA Division III All-Region team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Friday.

Cox, named to the First Team, was one of 376 student-athletes from 167 schools to make the prestigious team. Cox continued to receive awards following another stellar season for the Ladies in which she was named First-Team All-SCAC, earned a spot on the 2024 SCAC Championship All-Tournament Team, and was named SCAC Hitter of the Week once during the season. She is the first Centenary player to be named All-Region since Anna Dunn was named to the West Region First Team in 2018.

Cox was one of the top players this season in the conference and country as she led the SCAC in hits (61), runs (48), and triples (4), was second in total bases and walks, and third in batting average (.466), OBP (.541), and slugging (.618). She ranked in the top 20 in the country in hits and top 50 in batting average. She was named SCAC Hitter of the Week once during the season. Cox ranked second in the country in stolen bases (49) and was only caught four times. She posted 21 multi-hit games with a season-best 15-game hitting streak.

Cox went 5-8 in her two SCAC Tournament games with three RBI, a double, a run scored, and a stolen base. She was named First-Team All-SCAC on Friday, earning first-team all-conference honors for the fourth-straight season. Cox was named to the All-Tournament team for the second time in her stellar career after earning a spot on the team in 2022.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.

If they were not already voted to an All-Region squad, conference Players and Pitchers of the Year from member institutions are added to the third team in their region, so long as they are nominated by their member head coach and receive votes.

All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 29 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Marshall, Texas.
