Shreveport - The Centenary softball team will face the Schreiner University Mountaineers in a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series beginning on Friday at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (9-14, 4-2 SCAC) defeated the University of Dallas Crusaders by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday night at home to even their home record to 6-6. Schreiner (2-20, 1-5 SCAC) enters the series with a 1-12 road record and has lost two games in a row after dropping a series to Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas.
Centenary swept a doubleheader over Dallas on March 16 by scores of 7-0 and 4-1 and game three was postponed from March 17 until Tuesday as the Ladies recorded the delayed series sweep. The Ladies finished with 10 hits as they recorded 10+ hits in a game for the 11th time this season and did so in all three games of the series with a total of 33 hits.
Junior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) tossed a complete game on Tuesday to as she limited the Crusaders to just one unearned run and five hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Scarbrock faced 27 batters and threw 87 pitches, 58 for strikes. Scarbrock was masterful in the circle for the Ladies in game one of their DH against Dallas on March 16, tossing a complete-game shutout, needing just 50 pitches in the 7-0 win. She allowed just two hits with no walks and one strikeout. She faced 24 batters, hitting one, and threw 40 of her 50 pitches for strikes.
Scarbrock, who was named SCAC Pitcher of the Week on March 18, has yielded just eight earned runs over her last 32 innings. She is 5-5 with a 2.78 ERA this season in 12 appearances (10) starts and a team-leading three complete games and only six walks in 58.0 innings pitched with 21 strikeouts.
Junior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) has the Ladies' lowest ERA as she is just ahead of Scarbrock at 2.77. She is 2-1 with one save and 22 K's in 30.1 IP. Sophomore P Riley Myers (Shreveport, La.) is 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 10 appearances and five starts.
The Ladies are hitting .301 as a team with a .357 on-base percentage and are slugging .368 with one home run. Senior RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is the Ladies' top hitter as she is batting a sizzling .446 with a .527 OBP and is slugging .554. She leads the country in division III in stolen bases (31) and has only been thrown out twice. Cox has a team-high 33 hits and has scored a team-best 29 runs with 10 RBI, three triple, and two doubles.
Sophomore SS Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) is second on the team in hits with 24 and is batting .308 (.365 OBP/.333 slugging) with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base. Sophomore C Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has a team-high 15 RBI and is hitting .273 (.289 OBP/.390 slugging) with the Ladies' lone home run, six doubles, 21 hits, 12 runs scored, and three stolen bases. Senior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .328 (.382 OBP/.388 slugging) with 22 hits, 10 RBI, six runs scored, four doubles, and a stolen base. Dominguez has been red-shot lately as she has posted four multi-hit performances in her last six games with a pair of doubles, two runs scored, a stolen base, and two RBI while hitting .647 (11-17).
The Ladies lost two of three games at Schreiner last season in Kerrville, Texas but won three of the four meetings between the two in 2022 including one victory in the SCAC Tournament.
The series concludes on Saturday with a DH scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m.
