HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third, Simmons delivered a one-out sac fly to right field that plated the winning run for the defending tournament champion Celts. 
  • Centenary jumped out to a 2-0 lead through four innings on RBI singles from Mallory Stout and Mackenzie Cox in the first and fourth innings, respectively. 
  • St. Thomas came back and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth on an error and a pinch hit RBI double from Grace Torres. That set the stage for Simmons' herocis in the bottom of the seventh.
