Shreveport - The Centenary softball team blanked the Schreiner University Mountaineers by a score of 8-0 in six innings on Friday afternoon in the opener of a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (10-14, 5-2 SCAC) won for the second game in a row after recording a 5-1 win over the University of Dallas on Tuesday night and are now 7-6 at home this season. The Mountaineers dropped to 2-21 overall and 1-6 in league play with Friday's loss.

The Ladies finished with 10 hits as they recorded 10+ hits in a game for the 12th time this season and second game in a row. Junior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) and junior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) limited the Mountaineers to just three hits.

Scarbrock picked up the win to improve to 6-5 as she started and went 5.1 innings and allowed just three hits with a strikeout but left after being hit in the hand with a line drive. Shepherd relieved her and got he final two outs of the sixth inning to secure the shutout win, the Ladies' second shutout of the season. Scarbrock, who faced 18 batters and threw 60 pitches, 40 for strikes, has allowed just eight earned runs over her last 37.1 innings

Sophomore DP Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) led the Ladies' offense with a career-high three hits and career-best four RBI as she finished 3-3 with a double. Senior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) and sophomore 2B Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) each had two hits, and sophomore SS Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) went 1-1 with two walks and three runs scored.

Sophomore C Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) was 1-2 with two RBI and a stolen base. Senior RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) was 0-2 but walked twice, stole her 32nd base of the season, and scored a run and sophomore 3B River Boultinghouse (Saint Gabriel, La.) was 1-3 with an RBI.

Isabella Gutierrez started for Schreiner and took the loss to fall to 0-5. She allowed four runs, all earned, on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts. She faced 18 batters and threw 62 pitches – 35 for strikes. Trysten Liesman pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed four runs, all earned, and three hits with three BB and three K and hit a batter.

Hodgson got the scoring started with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the first to score Dominguez and Stokes, Thrasher's RBI single in the third scored Stokes, and Boltinghouse brought Crow home in the fourth with an RBI single to make it 4-0. The Ladies then sealed the run-rule win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dominguez singled through the left side to score Crow, Thrasher's sacrifice fly scored Cox, and a two-run single by Hodgson scored Dominguez and Stokes and ended the game.

The series concludes on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m.
