
Softball Faces LeTourneau In Tuesday Doubleheader
The Centenary softball team takes a break from conference play on Tuesday as the Ladies will face the LeTourneau University YellowJackets in a non-conference doubleheader set for 4 and 6 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (9-11) and YellowJackets (8-12) will meet for the fourth season in a row with LeTourneau winning the last five games. Centenary is 5-5 at home this season while LeTourneau is 1-3 on the road. The YellowJackets have lost five games in a row entering Tuesday's play
Centenary aims to remain hot as the Maroon and White recorded a series sweep over the Southwestern University Pirates in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at home over the weekend.
Senior Abby Touchet (Shreveport, La.) drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two of a DH on Saturday to cap a 7-6 victory as the Ladies rallied from a 6-0 deficit after five innings to complete the comeback and after winning game one of the DH 5-1. Centenary won the series opener on Friday 6-0.
Senior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) made history in game one of the DH as she struck out 14 batters, which is the most by a Centenary pitcher in a single game in the division III era (2012-present) of the program. Shepherd (3-3) went the distance and allowed one earned run and two hits in her seven innings of work. Shepherd's 14 strikeouts are the most by a SCAC pitcher in a game this season.
Centenary is hitting .264 as a team with a .348 on-base percentage and a .343 slugging percentage. The Ladies have scored 79 runs, recorded 136 hits, drawn 49 walks, and have 26 extra-base hits, seven home runs, and 11 stolen bases. Centenary has a 4.28 team ERA with four complete games.
Touchet had a big weekend at the plate for the Ladies as she drove in five runs and collected two hits including one home run. Touchet walked twice and scored one run and slugged a three-run home run in the 5-1 win in game one of Saturday's DH - her fourth of the season.
Senior UT Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and junior UT Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) each had two hits in Friday's win, Crow had two RBI, and senior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) tossed a complete-game shutout. Scarbrock now has three complete games this season and 23 in her career which ranks third in the division III era (2012-present) in program history. She allowed just six hits on Friday with no walks and three strikeouts. She faced 27 batters and threw 80 pitches with 59 for strikes.
Freshman SS Kaitlynn Alello (Denham Springs, La.) had two hits in Saturday's 5-1 win and senior SS Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) had a clutch bases-loaded double in the sixth inning of the 7-6 comeback win. Scarbrock entered the game in the seventh inning and retired the Pirates in order to send the game to the bottom half tied at 6-6.
Sophomore CF Noelle Sandmann (Huntsville, Texas) drew a leadoff walk and then Sandefur laid down a perfect bunt to reach base, junior IF Morgan Dawson (Natchitoches, La.) walked to load the bases with no outs, and then Touchet patiently took a walk to force in the winning run and clinch the series sweep.
