Softball Takes Season-High Winning Streak On Road Saturday
The Centenary softball team is on the road this weekend in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play to face the University of Dallas Crusaders beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon at the UD Softball facility.

Irving, Texas – The Centenary softball team is on the road this weekend in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play to face the University of Dallas Crusaders beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon at the UD Softball facility.
The series between the Ladies (11-11, 6-8 SCAC) and Crusaders (7-21, 3-15 SCAC) concludes on Sunday with a single game set for Noon.

The Ladies enter the series riding high after sweeping LeTourneau University on Tuesday in a non-conference DH at home which was preceded by a three-game sweep of the Southwestern University Pirates in league play last weekend at home. Centenary has won a season-best five games in a row and is 4-4 on the road this season.
Centenary beat LeTourneau 6-1 in game one and 6-4 in game two as the Maroon and White had 17 hits in the two games and improved to 7-5 at home. The Ladies won the series opener with Southwestern last Friday 6-0 behind a stellar pitching performance from senior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) and then swept a doubleheader on Saturday, winning game one 5-1 and rallying from a late 6-0 deficit in game two to win 7-6.
Senior Abby Touchet (Shreveport, La.) drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two of the DH to cap the 7-6 comeback victory. Senior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) made history in game one of the DH as she struck out 14 batters, which is the most by a Centenary pitcher in a single game in the division III era (2012-present) of the program. Shepherd (3-3) went the distance and allowed one earned run and two hits in her seven innings of work. Shepherd's 14 strikeouts are the most by a SCAC pitcher in a game this season.
Touchet had a big weekend at the plate for the Ladies as she drove in five runs and collected two hits including one home run. Touchet walked twice and scored one run and slugged a 3-run home run in the 5-1 win in game one of Saturday's DH - her fourth of the season.
Senior UT Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and junior UT Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) each had two hits in Friday's win, Crow had two RBI, and Scarbrock tossed a complete-game shutout. Scarbrock allowed just six hits last Friday with no walks and three strikeouts. She faced 27 batters and threw 80 pitches with 59 for strikes.
Scarbrock pitched another complete game, her team-leading fourth of the season, on Tuesday in game one of the DH to improve to 5-4 on the season, allowing just one unearned run and four hits in her seven innings with no BB and a pair of K's. Shepherd started in the circle in game two and got the win to improve to 4-3 as she went five innings and blanked the YellowJackets while allowing just a single hit with two BB and three K's.
The Ladies were picked to finish seventh this season in the SCAC preseason coaches' poll this season and the Crusaders were picked 11th. Centenary is currently sixth in the league standings while the Crusaders are 10th.
