Softball Selected as "Team of the Week"
The Centenary softball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies opened their season with a doubleheader sweep over the Millsaps College Majors in non-conference action on Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex.
Shreveport – The Centenary softball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies opened their season with a doubleheader sweep over the Millsaps College Majors in non-conference action on Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex.
The Ladies (2-0) won game one by a score of 4-3 in nine innings and then won 10-3 in game two. Centenary won its first two games of a season for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.
Senior UT Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) got off to a hot start this weekend as she hit .571 with a .500 OBP and slugged .571 with four hits, four RBI, and a run scored. In game two of the DH, Rivero had a two-run single and a sacrifice fly as she finished 2-3 with three RBI in the Ladies' 10-3 win.
Senior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) pitched a complete game in the Ladies' season-opening 4-3 win and allowed just two earned runs and a pair of walks with six strikeouts. She faced 37 batters and threw 106 pitches (74 strikes) as she tossed her 21st career CG.
The Ladies' non-conference doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at home against Belhaven University has been postponed due to expected inclement weather. The DH with the Blazers will be attempted to be rescheduled for later in the season. The Ladies' scheduled DH on Sunday against Lyon College is still set to be played but could also be affected.
