
Ladies To Face Nationally-Ranked TLU This Weekend At Home
The Centenary softball team returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference this weekend at home as the Ladies will face the nationally-ranked Texas Lutheran Bulldogs beginning on Friday with a doubleheader set for 4 and 6 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The third and final game of the series between the Ladies (6-5, 3-2 SCAC) and Bulldogs (11-0, 5-0 SCAC) is set for Saturday at Noon. The Bulldogs enter the weekend ranked No. 8 in the country in the NFCA/Gorout Division III Top 25 Softball Coaches' Poll.
Centenary is hitting .264 as a team with a .338 on-base percentage and a .345 slugging percentage. The Ladies have scored 49 runs, recorded 78 hits, drawn 24 walks, and have 16 extra-base hits, and nine stolen bases. Centenary has a 3.90 team ERA with two complete games. The Ladies have hit six home runs and all six came in the last five games.
The Ladies enter the weekend having won four of their last five games which includes an impressive three-game series sweep in league play on the road last weekend over the University of Ozarks. Centenary also split a doubleheader with Hendrix College on Monday in Conway, Ark. The Ladies swept Ozarks in a DH last Friday by scores of 8-2 and 9-6 and then completed the series sweep with an 8-4 win on Saturday. The Ladies fell 6-5 in eight innings in game one on Monday against Hendrix and rebounded with a 4-3 victory to earn the split.
Senior C/1B Abby Touchet (Shreveport, La.) finished a red-hot .538 (7-13) with six RBI and a pair of home runs in the series sweep of Ozarks. Touchet, in her first season after transferring from TLU, also had two doubles, scored three runs, and did not strike out all weekend while finishing with a .571 OBP and slugged 1.154.
She had at least two hits in all three games, one 3-hit performance, and scored a run in each game while playing both catcher and DH. In Monday's DH, Touchet went 3-6 with two RBI, a home run, two runs, and a walk. She is hitting .406 on the season with a .525 OBP and is slugging .719 with 13 hits (second on team), seven RBI (second on team) and has seven walks and only two strikeouts in 32 at-bats.
Senior Emma Shepherd (Athens, La.) had a sensational weekend in the circle at Ozarks as she went 2-0 with an 0.66 ERA in three appearances. In 10.2 IP she allowed just one earned run and six hits with five BB and 10 strikeouts. Shepherd worked a season-high 6.1 innings last Saturday in her first start of the season and struck out four to record her second win of the weekend after picking up one in game two of a DH on Friday. In game one of Monday's DH at Hendrix, Shepherd pitched five innings in relief and allowed just one earned run and two hits with nine K's.
Senior UT Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) hit .375 (6-16) last weekend with a home run and three RBI. Rivero leads the Ladies in batting average (.412) and hits (14) this season and has a .432 OBP and is slugging .500 with a team-high nine RBI and has scored four runs. Junior SS/2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) is hitting .263 (.300 OBP/.342 slugging) with 10 hits, three RBI, and two runs scored, junior P/UT Abigail Hodgson (Florence, Texas) is batting .333 (.357 OBP/.370 slugging) with nine hits, seven RBI, and a BB.
Freshman INF Kaitlynn Alello (Denham Springs, La.) is hitting .350 (552 OBP/.500 slugging) with seven hits, three RBI, and three BB and junior C/IF Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has six hits and four RBI. Sophomore OF Noelle Sandmann (Huntsville, Texas) has five hits, five BB, and three RBI, junior Laine Sullivan (Prairieville, La.) has four hits and pair of RBI and junior UT Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) has three hits, an RBI, and a BB.
Junior IF Morgan Dawson (Natchitoches, La.), sophomore OF Taylor Good (Flower Mound, Texas), and sophomore IF Mandy Hoback (Wylie, Texas) each have two hits this season and senior IF Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) has one. Freshman INF Libby Guidry (Iowa, La.), Sandmann, Sullivan, and Allelo each share the team lead in stolen bases with two and Stokes has one. Touchet leads the team in doubles with four and Allelo and Stokes each have three with Hoback and Hodgson each having one. Touchet's two home runs are tops on the team and Thrasher and Rivero have each hit one.
The Ladies' offense has been impressive over the last five games as the Maroon and White have produced 34 runs, 51 hits, 11 extra-base hits, and six home runs.
Shepherd is the team leader in ERA (2.10) and is followed by senior P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) whose is 2.72. Junior P Riley Myers (Shreveport, La.) has a 3.50 ERA, junior P/OF Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) has a 6.16 ERA and Hodgson sits at 7.00 Shepherd and Scarbrock are tied for the team lead in wins with two each and Roach has started a team-leading five games followed by Scarbrock's three.
The Ladies were picked to finish seventh this season in the SCAC preseason coaches' poll this season while the Bulldogs were the preseason favorite to win the conference.

The Bulldogs have won ten consecutive regular season SCAC titles.
The Bulldogs have now recorded eight shutouts through their first 11 games of 2025, outscoring their opponents 85-10 with a 0.61 team ERA.
