The Gents (1-2-1) and the Blazers (1-1-2) will both be in search of their first win since each teams' respective season opener, when Centenary blanked Dallas Christian College 5-0 and Belhaven shut out Sul Ross State University by that same score.

Centenary fell 4-2 to the Huntingdon College Hawks on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest in Montgomery, Ala. while Belhaven lost 2-1 at home on Saturday to East Texas Baptist University. The Gents began their road trip with a 4-0 loss at LaGrange on Friday.

Huntingdon took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute of the first half in Saturday's match and the lead lasted until early in the second half as Taylor Bradley scored an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.

Sophomore F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) got the Gents on the board with a goal at the 73-minute mark off an assist from senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) to cut the Hawks' lead to 2-1, the third goal of Masti's young career. Just over four minutes later, Carlos Melendez scored an unassisted goal to give Hawks a 3-1 lead. Petreas then found the net 16 seconds later to again get the Gents within a goal at 3-2. Three minutes later Davis Edwards scored an unassisted goal to make it 4-2.

Gents' senior GK Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and made two saves. Centenary finished with a decisive 21-11 advantage in shots and took 13 corner kicks to just two for the Hawks. Huntingdon was whistled for seven fouls, Centenary four, and five yellow and one red card were issued.

Petreas currently ranks fourth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, tied with three others, in points (six), while Borchalli is tied for fifth in saves with 10, and sophomore MF Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.) is tied for fourth in shots with 12 and is tied with Petreas for the team lead in assists with two. Freshman F Aaron Myers (Plano, Texas) is tied with Petreas for the team lead in goals (two) as he scored both in the Gents' 5-0 win in their season opener, as he became just the 12th Centenary player in the D3 era to score two goals in a game, Interestingly, he is the first since Petreas did so on March 13, 2021 against Austin College.

Centenary edged Belhaven at home last season, 2-1, in what was a special night at Mayo Field as the 2020-21 SCAC Men's Championship team was recognized at halftime of the women's match prior to the men's match. The largest crowd all season was on hand to witness the team receive their championship rings and be honored and applauded on the field once again. The Gents are 8-4-2 all-time versus Belhaven.
