Richardson, Texas - The Centenary men's soccer team tied the University of Texas at Dallas Comets 2-2 on Sunday evening in a non-conference contest at the UTD Soccer Complex in a match that was delayed nearly two hours due to inclement weather.

The Gents (1-3-5) have now recorded three-consecutive ties and extended their record for most ties in a season in the division III era (2011-present) which had been three. Centenary tied McMurry University (3-3) on Friday afternoon to set the single-season mark after earning a 1-1 draw against LeTourneau tie the previous record at home last Sunday. The Comets are now 4-2-2 on the season.

Kane Kidwell gave the Comets a 1-0 lead as he scored his fourth goal of the season in the 23rd minute off double assists from teammates Riley O'Donnell and Gavin Smith. Centenary freshman D Mackenzie Soul (Shreveport, La.) tied the match with his first-career goal at the 44:11 mark just before halftime, assisted by fellow rookie, MF Jade Hiller (Frisco, Texas).

O'Donnell and Kidwell teamed up again in the 50th minute, this time it was O'Donnell doing the scoring to give the Comets a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later, Centenary answered as sophomore F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) scored his second goal of the weekend and third of the season with the assist going to senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas). The veteran Petreas now has four assists this season and two this weekend after tallying one with a goal on Friday against McMurry.

Gents' senior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves. Borchalli also collected five in Friday's tie against the War Hawks and now has 28 this season. Michael Hesse went the distance for the Comets and made three saves. The home team held the edge in shots (16-9), taking nine in the second half to just two for the Gents after each team took seven before halftime. The Comets took six corner kicks, the Gents four, and 21 fouls were called in the match with a pair of yellow cards, one for each team.

The Gents will be back on the road for three matches to begin Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, starting with a contest at Colorado College on Oct. 2 followed by a pair of matches the following weekend at Texas Lutheran (Oct. 7) and Southwestern (Oct. 9).
