Shreveport- The Centenary men's soccer team is set for its final two home matches of the regular season, both in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, beginning with a contest versus the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Gents (2-7-5, 1-4 SCAC) are eager to return to the field after dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker to Austin College on Sunday at home. Centenary, which blanked Dallas 2-0 last Friday, lost for the first time at home this season as the Maroon and White are now 2-1-3 at Mayo Field. Schreiner enters Friday's action at 4-9 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Mountaineers were blasted 8-0 by Trinity at home on Saturday in their most recent match. Schreiner recorded a 3-0 win over Centenary last season in Kerrville in the lone meeting between the teams.

Senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas) enters the weekend as one of the top offensive players in the conference as he currently ranks in the top five in the SCAC in goals (7), assists (5), and points (30), and is tied for seventh in shots (27). Petreas' seven goals this season are the second-most in a single season in the division III era (2011-present) in program history and he ranks second all-time in goals scored (12), is tied for third in assists (6), second in points (30), and third in game-winning goals (3).

Gents' senior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) started and played all 90 minutes against the 'Roos on Sunday and made five saves. He followed up an impressive performance on Friday versus Dallas in which he recorded a season-best 11 saves and now needs just 17 more to become the all-time leader in the division III era (2011-present). Borchalli is fifth in the conference this season in saves (61) and he is also the D3-era leader in career shutouts with 14.

Sophomore F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) is second on the team in goals with four, while freshman F Aaron Myers (Plano, Texas) is next with three. Sophomore MF Brennan Amato (Denham Springs, La.) is the team leader in assists with three and shares the team lead in shots (27) with Petreas.

Schreiner is led offensively by Zaaron Gonzalez' four goals and Noah Boggus is just behind him with three. Three Mountaineers are tied for the team lead in assists with two each. Schreiner's primary goalkeeper, Kameryn Roehrig, has 66 saves this season.

Centenary wraps up the weekend with another conference contest on Sunday, Oct. 23 versus Trinity University at Noon for Senior Day. The Gents then finish the regular season at St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Houston.

The top four teams in the conference earn a berth in the 2022 SCAC Men's Soccer Championship set for Nov 4-6 in Sherman, Texas. The Gents are currently eighth in the standings while the Mountaineers are sixth.
