Irving, Texas - The Centenary men's soccer team earned its fourth tie of the season on Friday as the Gents finished in a 3-3 tie with the McMurry University War Hawks in a non-conference, neutral-site contest at the University of Dallas Soccer Field.

The Gents are now 1-3-4 overall and have had consecutive matches end in a tie after a 1-1 draw with LeTourneau at home on Sunday night. The War Hawks (1-4-2) and Gents were facing each other for the first time in history on Friday. Centenary has now set the record for most ties in a season in the division III era (2011-present).

Sophomore F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) opened the scoring as he found the back of the net for the second time this season and fourth time in his young career in the sixth minute off an assist from senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas). McMurry tied the match in the 20th minute as Armando Saldana scored with the assist credited to Ahmad Alhendi and the match was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Centenary wasted no time taking the lead after the half as freshman F Aaron Myers (Plano, Texas) gave the Gents a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute off an assist from sophomore F Dylan Allred (Lafayette, La.). Jordan Katende scored an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute to tie the match and a penalty kick by McMurry's Andres Martinez have the War Hawks a 3-2 lead in the 76th minute. Petreas cashed in on a PK of his own in the 86th minute to tie things up at 3-3.

The veteran Petreas continued his stellar season senior season by scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the season. He now has five goals, three assists, and 13 points to lead the Gents in all three categories. Petreas has 10 goals, four assists, and 24 points in his decorated career as he is tied for second in the D3 era in goals and second in points. He is currently ranked in the top five in the conference in goals, points, and assists.

Gents' senior goalkeeper Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves. McMurry GK Griffin Cardwell also went the distance and made one save. The War Hawks took 18 shots to the Gents' nine, each team took six corner kicks, and the teams combined for 25 fouls. Six cards were issues – five yellow cards and one red card on the War Hawks' Preston Stal.

The Gents will play another non-conference match on Sunday versus The University of Texas at Dallas at 3:30 p.m. in Richardson, Texas. The Comets earned a 1-0 win over the Gents in Shreveport last season.

The Gents will be back on the road for three matches to begin Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, starting with a contest at Colorado College on Oct. 2 followed by a pair of matches the following weekend at Texas Lutheran (Oct. 7) and Southwestern (Oct. 9).
