Shreveport- The Centenary softball team finished off an impressive series sweep of the University of Dallas Crusaders in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 9-1 win in six innings on Sunday afternoon at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (9-10, 3-6 SCAC) swept a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 7-4 and 6-3, and have now won a season-high five games in a row. The five-game winning streak is also the Ladies' longest since winning eight in a row during the 2019 season. Dallas fell to 5-20 and 2-7 in conference play with the loss.

Centenary improves to 6-4 at home this season and the Maroon and White have dominated the recent series with the Crusaders, having won 19 of the last 20 games between the two teams.

The Ladies jumped out early and took a 6-0 lead after two innings, the Crusaders scored a single run in the fourth, but the Maroon and White added three in the bottom of the sixth to record the run-rule win. Centenary finished with nine runs on nine hits while the Crusaders mustered just a run on six hits and committed four errors. The Ladies drew five walks, did not strike out, and had three players post multi-hit games.

Senior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) got the win to improve to 3-1 as she went 3.1 innings and allowed just one earned run and four hits. She did not walk or strike out a batter. Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits and struck out one. Karina Campo (4-9) took the loss for Dallas as she allowed six runs, four earned, and five hits in her two innings of work. She hit a batter, walked two, and did not record a strikeout. Devinne Green relieved her and went the final 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs and four hits with no K's and three walks.

Sophomore RF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) went 2-5 with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. Junior LF Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) finished 2-3 with an RBI, a walk, and two runs scored. Freshman 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) was 1-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) was 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored, senior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) went 0-1 with a walk and two RBI, and sophomore Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) had a sacrifice fly. Freshman SS Brooke Sandefur (Baton Rouge, La.) was 0-2 but scored a run and freshman 3B Maggie Jenkins (La Mesa, Calif.) was 1-2 with a walk. RF Jennifer Schmalz led the Crusaders with a 3-3 performance and scored a run. CF Emily Luna was 2-3 and 1B Maddy Murphy finished 1-3 with an RBI.

Patridge, Rivero, and Lewis all singled with one out to load the bases and Wilkinson delivered a SAC fly to score the first run. Stout reached on an error that allowed Lewis and Rivero to score for a 3-0 lead. Patridge doubled in a run, Lewis drew a bases-loaded walk, and Wilkinson came through with another SAC fly in the second for a 6-0 Ladies' lead.

In the sixth, Stout had an RBI single, Dominguez had her SAC fly, and Cox singled home Stout to finish off the Crusaders.

The Ladies are back in action next weekend with a conference series at No. 5 Texas Lutheran (23-4, 9-0 SCAC) set for Friday and Saturday in Seguin, Texas.
