Georgetown, Texas- The Centenary softball team will face the Southwestern University Pirates in a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader at Noon and 2 p.m. at Taylor Sanders Field.

The Ladies (9-13, 3-9 SCAC) were swept at No. 5 Texas Lutheran last weekend in Seguin, Texas, falling 5-0 and 6-3 in a doubleheader on Friday and 10-0 in five innings on Saturday. The Pirates (8-21, 3-9 SCAC) were swept last weekend at St. Thomas and are 2-8 at home this season.

In addition to the sweep by the Celts last weekend, Southwestern has lost two of three at Dallas, won two of three games at Trinity, were swept at home versus Texas Lutheran. The Ladies have been swept by Trinity and Austin College in addition to being swept by TLU and swept Dallas. Centenary entered last weekend riding a season-best five-game winning streak as the Maroon and White look to get back on track in its second-consecutive road series.

Centenary went 3-1 versus Southwestern last season, winning two of three at home and recording a 10-4 win in seven innings in the 2021 SCAC Tournament in Kerrville, Texas. The Ladies and Pirates enter this weekend in a three-way tie for fifth with Austin College in the conference standings.

The Ladies are one of the top hitting clubs in the conference as they enter this weekends' series hitting .317 to rank second in the conference. Centenary has a team on-base percentage of .385 and is slugging .420. The Ladies have scored 105 runs and have collected 196 hits and are averaging 4.7 runs per game. They have 10 games this season with 11 or more hits with 12 or more six times. The Ladies have scored 10+ runs in a game twice. Centenary has a team ERA of 4.18, has thrown six complete games, and one shutout.

Junior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) enters the series leading the Ladies in batting average (.423) to rank third in the conference. She also ranks in a tie for eighth in the SCAC in runs scored (18) and has a team-high 33 hits. Her on-base % is .464 and she is slugging .564 with seven doubles, two triples, nine RBI and six stolen bases. She is also fifth in the league in total bases with 44. Sophomore OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is sixth in the conference with a .395 average and is fifth in runs scored (22). She has a team-best .465 OBP and is slugging .487. She ranks second on the team in hits (30) and has 10 RBI, three doubles, and two triples while having only struck out eight times in 76 at-bats with nine walks. The sensational sophomore is 10th in the country in division III in stolen bases as she has swiped an impressive 24 bags and been caught just one time.

Senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) is having another outstanding season for the Ladies as she has belted a team-leading three home runs and is hitting .329 (.402 OBP) is slugging a team-high .589. She leads the team in RBI (16) and doubles (10) and has 24 hits and scored 14 runs. She has walked eight times and only struck out seven times in 73 at-bats. Freshman 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is having a superb rookie season as she is hitting .365 (.427 OBP/.486 slugging) and is second on the team in RBI with 15. She has hit one homer and has six doubles, 27 hits, and scored 14 runs. Her K/BB ratio is also impressive as she has only struck out nine times and drawn eight walks in 74 at-bats.

Junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) has been a steady source of offense for the Ladies all season as she is hitting .344 (.417 OBP/.406 slugging) with 11 RBI, 22 hits, 10 runs scored, four doubles, and has also stolen three bases. Freshman UT Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) is hitting .362 with 17 hits, six RBI, five runs scored, and a double. Her OBP is .423 and she is slugging .383.

Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) is the team leader in wins (4) and ERA (3.60) and has tossed three complete games and has one save. Senior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) is 3-1 with a 4.59 ERA and freshman P Anna Scarbock (Alexandria, La.) is 2-9 but has thrown three complete games and has a 4.65 ERA.
