Ladies Fall In Monday Exhibition At ULM

Monroe, La. - The Centenary women's basketball team fell 70-36 to the ULM Warhawks on Monday evening in a non-conference exhibition contest at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Ladies and Warhawks were facing each other for the first time since the 2010-11 season when ULM recorded an 87-61 win. ULM improved to 2-3 on the season with Monday's win.

Centenary was led in scoring by sophomore guard Addy Tremie (Sulphur, La.) as she posted nine points and for rebounds in 38 minutes. She connected on 3-9 three-point attempts and picked up two steals. Junior Destini Powell (Minden, La.) scored six points and grabbed a pair of rebounds with two assists in 27 minutes and his a pair of treys.

Freshman G Mary Leday (Opelousas, La.) played 39 minutes and scored five with one rebound, two assists, and two steals. She was 2-6 from the floor and 1-2 at the free throw line. Junior F Jazzmyn Jones (Normangee, Texas) scored five points and had four rebounds in 25 minutes. She was 3-6 from the free throw line with an assist and a steal.

Freshman G Alana Jones (Shreveport) had a solid performance with five points, six rebounds, and three assists. She added a steal and made 3-4 free throws in 31 minutes. Freshman G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) added four points in nine minutes with an assist and a steal and was 2-4 from the field. Junior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) played 23 minutes and grabbed six rebounds, blocked two shots, two points, and had a steal.

The Ladies shot 24.5 % for the game from the field and collected nine assists, nine steals, and two blocked shots. Centenary hit five treys and was 7-12 from the free throw line. The Maroon and White scored 12 points in the paint, had seven bench points, and five second-chance points.

ULM shot 45.2 % overall, was 6-17 from long range, and was a perfect 8-8 from the free low line. The Warhawks outrebounded the Ladies, 43-28, and had two players in double figures as Gara Beth Self's scored 13 points and Gracen Williams added 12. The Warhawks scored 38 points in the paint, scored 30 points off turnovers, and received 28 points off the bench. ULM had 13 fast break points and scored 11 second chance points.

The Ladies remain on the road this week for another exhibition game at McNeese on Wednesday in Lake Charles at 5 p.m.
