The Gents (1-1-1) earned a 1-1 tie against the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets last Friday in a non-conference contest and the Gents' home opener at Atkins Field. Centenary split a pair of matches on its season-opening weekend on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, falling 1-0 to Piedmont University and beating Huntingdon College 4-1.

The Owls (0-3) have had a rough start to their season as they have been outscored 14-1 with losses to Huntingdon (3-1), Piedmont (5-0), and LaGrange (6-0). Centenary and MUW were both in Columbus, Miss. earlier this month with Huntingdon and Piedmont but did not play each other.

The Gents and Owls are meeting for the third time on Friday as the Maroon and White hold a 2-0 record in the all-time series with a 3-1 win in 2018 and a 2-0 victory in Shreveport last season.

Senior MF Hunter Booth (Harrodsburg, Ky.) scored the Gents' lone goal last Friday against Howard Payne as he tied the score in the 39th minute, notching his second goal of the season. Booth, following a corner kick, headed the ball into the next for the tying score after a pass from junior F Eoin Hamill (Belfast, Ireland) who was credited with the assist.

Freshman GK Sebastian Lutin (Fort Worth, Texas) started for the third match in a row for the Gents and played all 90 minutes, making three saves. Juan Ugalde also went the distance for the Yellow Jackets and recorded eight saves.

The aggressive Gents finished with a decisive advantage (27-7) in shots and took eight corner kicks while the Yellow Jackets did not attempt one. The Gents are 3-4-2 over their last nine home matches.

Centenary completes the weekend with a non-conference match against Ouachita Baptist University, a division II program, on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. Centenary and OBU have not met since 2005 as the Gents are 4-0 all-time against the Tigers.

*Austin College and MUW will play each other on Sunday at NOON at Atkins Field prior to the Gents' match against Ouachita Baptist*
