Ladies Drop 85-51 Decision On Friday Night To Colorado College

Shreveport – The Centenary women's basketball team dropped a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest to the Colorado College Tigers by a score of 85-51 on Friday evening at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies fall to 1-16 overall and 1-7 in league play while the Tigers improve to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in the SCAC. The Tigers took a 25-21 lead after the first quarter and outscored Centenary 18-14 in the second period for a 43-35 lead at halftime. The visiting Tigers then took control of the game with a dominating 26-8 advantage in the third quarter and outscored the Ladies 16-8 in the fourth quarter for a 42-16 second half advantage.

The Ladies shot 25.4 % (17-67) overall from the floor, finished 33.3 % (7-21) from beyond the arc, and 62.5 % (10-16) from the free throw line. Colorado College shot 47 % (31-66) from the floor and 80.8 % (21-26) from the FT line. The Tigers, who were only 2-17 from the 3-point line for 11.8 %, did their best work close to the basket as they finished with a decisive 48-8 edge in points in the paint.

The Tigers' bench contributed 35 points while the Ladies received 13 from theirs. Colorado College turned the ball over 20 times and the Ladies gave it away 16 times. The Tigers scored 28 points off of turnovers and the Ladies scored 13. Colorado College scored 20 second-chance points to nine for the Ladies. Colorado College outrebounded the Ladies, 55-35, and had 18 assists, 11 steals, and seven blocked shots. Centenary totaled seven assists, 11 steals, and two blocked shots.

Freshman G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) led the Ladies with 14 points and freshman G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) was right behind her with 13. Barrow reached double figures for the seventh time this season and added four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 27 minutes on 6-10 shooting and hit a pair of treys in four attempts. Plumber played 33 minutes and was 4-10 overall with all four makes coming in eight attempts from beyond the arc. She was 1-2 at the FT line with two assists, a rebound, and a steal. Her four treys are a single-game season high.

Sophomore G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) scored seven points with three boards, both of the Ladies' blocked shots, and a steal in 38 minutes as she scored all seven of her points from the FT line in eight attempts. Sophomore G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) and freshman G Brailey Major (Opelousas, La.) each scored four points, freshman G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) had three, and the Ladies got two points apiece from freshman F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.), senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.), and freshman G Olivia Sepulvado (Zwolle, La.).

Five Colorado College players reached double figures led by Zoe Tomlinson's game-high 20. She added a game-best 15 rebounds for an impressive double-double in which she added a blocked shot and a steal in 20 minutes. She was 8-11 from the floor and 4-5 at the FT line.

The Ladies are on the road next weekend to face Trinity and Schreiner.
