Seguin, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team opens its season on Monday as the Ladies are set to tee off in the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Texas Lutheran University at Starcke Park.
Centenary will be joined by the host Bulldogs along with the University of St. Thomas, the University of Texas at Dallas, Schreiner University, Trinity University, Our Lady of the Lake University, and Southwestern University.
The field will play 18 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. followed by the final round of 18 holes on Tuesday. The teams will be tested by a par-71, 5,645-yard layout.
The Ladies' youthful lineup this week consists of sophomore Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.), freshman Hailey Adams (Hamburg, Ark.), freshman Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas), freshman Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah), and freshman Mia Knox (Chicago, Ill.). The four rookies make their collegiate debuts on Monday while Roberts will play in her sixth-career event.
"I can't tell you how excited I am about this season after navigating through some tribulation last year," said Centenary head coach Emlyn Aubrey. It's great to have a full team again to put back onto the links!"
"I know our newcomers are a bit nervous with having their first tournament so close to the beginning of the school year and the craziness that brings, but we are using this week to settle into a flow, get prepared as best we can, and get that first tournament round on the scorecard. Good or bad, our key is to get comfortable playing tournament golf again and the quicker that happens, we are going to be very competitive this year. I'm very much looking forward to it!"
The Ladies will play one more tournament this fall – the Legends Cup on Oct. 2-3 at the Legends Golf Club in Kingsland, Texas.
