Ladies Finish Ninth At Lady Bulldog Classic

Seguin, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team finished ninth in the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Texas Lutheran University as the Ladies wrapped up play in their opening tournament of the season on Tuesday at the par-71, 5,645-yard Starcke Park.

The Ladies shot a 179-over par 747 for the two-day event including a 90-over 374 on Tuesday after an 89-over par 373 on Monday. The University of Texas at Dallas won the tournament after shooting an 18-over par 586 to finish 14 shots ahead of both Southwestern University and Trinity University who tied for second place at 28-over par 600. Karen Lee of UT-Dallas won the individual title after firing a 1-under par 141. 

The University of St. Thomas placed fourth (35-over 607), Our Lady of the Lake University finished fifth (58-over 630), Schreiner was sixth (76-over 648), UT-Dallas' "B" team placed seventh at 98-over 670, and the host Bulldogs placed eighth at 114-over par 682.

Freshman Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) earned the Ladies' top finish this week as she shot a 34-over par 176 with a final-round 16-over par 87 preceded by an 18-over 89 in her first collegiate round on Monday. She finished in a tie for 43rd place. Freshman Hailey Adams (Hamburg, Ark.) finished 47th, freshman Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) finished in 50th place and sophomore Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) was right behind her in 51st place. Freshman Mia Knox (Chicago, Ill.) finished 52nd. 

The Ladies will play one more tournament this fall – the Legends Cup on Oct. 2-3 at the Legends Golf Club in Kingsland, Texas.
