Ladies Ninth After Opening Round Of Season

Seguin, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team opened its season on Monday by shooting an 89-over par 373 to sit in ninth place after one round in the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Texas Lutheran University at Starcke Park.

The Ladies were led by freshman Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) who shot an 18-over 89 in her first collegiate round and is tied for 42nd place. Thompson, freshman Hailey Adams (Hamburg, Ark.), freshman Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas), and freshman Mia Knox (Chicago, Ill.) all joined Thompson in making their debuts on Monday.

Sophomore Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) joined the four rookies in the Ladies' lineup and shot a 27-ovr par 98 on Monday to sit in 51st place. Adams shot a 21-over 92 and is tied for 47th place, Templeton is 49th after shooting a 23-over 94, and Knox is in 52nd place after carding a 106-over 177.

Centenary is joined in the event by host TLU along with the University of St. Thomas, the University of Texas at Dallas, Schreiner University, Trinity University, Our Lady of the Lake University, and Southwestern University. The field will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday at the par-71, 5,645-yard course.

UT-Dallas is the leader after one round after the Comets fired a 12-over par 296. Trinity and St. Thomas are tied for second place, each five shots behind the leaders. Southwestern is fourth, Our Lady of the Lake is fifth, Schreiner is sixth, and the host Bulldogs and UT Dallas' "B" squad are tied for seventh.

The Ladies will play one more tournament this fall – the Legends Cup on Oct. 2-3 at the Legends Golf Club in Kingsland, Texas.
