Kingsland, Texas – The Centenary women's golf team shot a 73-over par 361 on Monday in the opening round of The Legends Cup as the Ladies are in 10th place at Legends Golf Club.

The Ladies, playing their second tournament of the fall season after finishing ninth in the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by Texas Lutheran University last month, were led by a 12-over par 84 from freshman Mya Thompson (South Jordan, Utah) on Monday, marking her lowest round so far this season.

The 11-team field will play the final 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at the par 72, 5,727-yard course. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is serving as the host of the tournament.

Thompson, who is tied for 35th place, was the Ladies' top finisher last month as she shot a 34-over par 176 to finish in a tie for 43rd place. She is tied with two other golfers in 35th place and just six shots outside the top 10.

The host Cru is the team leader after one round after shooting a 19-over par 307 and are three shots ahead of University of California at Santa Cruz (22-over par 310). Alyssa Yee of UC Santa Cruz is the individual leader after shooting an even-par 72. Four golfers are in a tie for second place at 3-over par 75 and three are tied for sixth place at 5-over 77. Four are tied for ninth place at 6-over par 78.

Freshman Jordyn Templeton (Columbus, Texas) shot an 18-over par 90 and is in 50th place, one shot ahead of her teammate and fellow rookie, freshman Hailey Adams (Hamburg, Ark.) who is tied for 51st place at 19-over par 91. Sophomore Kaylee Roberts (Watonga, Okla.) shot a 24-over 96 and is tied for 56th.

Hardin-Simmons University is in third place (29-over par 317), Our Lady of the Lake University is fourth at 34-over par 322, Schreiner University is fifth (39-over par 327), the University of Dallas is sixth (40-over par 328), East Texas Baptist University is seventh (41-over par 329), Millsaps College is eighth (48-over 336), Texas Lutheran University is ninth (56-over par 344), and McMurry University is 11th at 85-over par 373.
