Gents Fall At Reinhardt In Season Opener

Waleska, Ga. - The Centenary lacrosse team fell 32-3 to the Reinhardt University Eagles on Saturday in its season opener and a non-conference contest at Ken White Field at University Stadium. 

Centenary will face Shorter University in Rome, Ga. on Monday at 5 p.m. to complete its season-opening road trip and then be off for 12 days before the home opener on Feb. 24 against Huntingdon.

The Gents received goals from senior D Matthew Lulich (New Orleans, La.), senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas), and senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.). Brady Hanak (six) and JR Sess (five) combined to score 11 goals and nine Reinhardt scored multiple goals.

Lulich scored Centenary's first goal, assisted by Cook, at the 12:25 mark of the first period, Temple scored, again assisted by Cook, with 2:24 left in the third, and Cook scored an unassisted goal with 8:11 left in the game.

Freshman Thomas Jordan (Dallas, Texas) started in goal for the Gents and made 11 saves while playing all 60 minutes. The Eagles used a pair of goalkeepers – Michael Scoleri started and played the first half and made two saves and Liam Wright played the second half and recorded five saves.

Reinhardt, which led 20-1 at halftime, finished with 56 shots, 70 ground balls, and went 34-39 on clears. Centenary took 18 shots, had 31 ground balls, and was 15-26 on clears. The Gents finished with 21 turnovers while Reinhardt committed 14.
