Dubuque, Iowa  The Centenary lacrosse team fell 17-7 to the University of Dubuque Spartans on Monday afternoon at Oyen Field.

The Gents (1-9) are now three games into their longest road trip of the season as they started the journey on March 20 with a 12-11 loss at Earlham College and continued on Friday with a 17-1 loss at Trine. The Spartans improved to 6-3 with the win.

Freshman M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) led the Gents with three goals and senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) and senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) each scored two. Hewett recorded his fourth hat trick of the season, and Cook and Temple each tallied their sixth multi-goal efforts of the season.

Junior Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Gents and made 17 saves. Nolan Nagy went the distance for the Spartans and recorded five saves.

Dubuque finished with 66 shots to Centenary's 24 and the Spartans finished with a 48-23 edge in ground balls. The Gents went 17-27 on clears and the Spartans went 16-19 and Dubuque won 22 of 27 face offs and Centenary won five. Four Spartans recorded multi-goal games led by five from Giovanni Silva

The Gents will next face Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisc. on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
