Gents Fall To Hanover 10-5 In Friday Road Contest

Hanover, Ind. - The Centenary lacrosse team dropped a 10-5 decision to the Hanover College Panthers on Friday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Alumni Stadium. 

The Gents (0-4) scored first as sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) found the net at the 12:36 mark with an assist credited to senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas). The Panthers (2-2) scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead after one quarter.

Hanover scored three-straight goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead and then freshman M Ethan Hewett (Bossier City, La.) scored to make it 5-2 as Spivey assisted. The Panthers added a goal less than a minute later to take a 6-2 halftime lead. Spivey scored again in the third quarter with sophomore MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.) getting the assist. Temple scored an unassisted goal late in the third quarter to make it 7-5. Hanover scored three goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Spivey recorded a hat trick to lead the Gents and Colin O'Brien scored three goals to lead the Panthers and Nick Adams while Ethan Abdoo each scored two. Junior Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) started in goal for Centenary and recorded nine saves  in his 60 minutes of action while Jackson McKeigue also went the distance and made five saves.

Hanover finished with a 47-21 advantage in shots, 39-28 in ground balls, and went 13-15 on clears. Centenary went 11-15 on clears and finished 12-19 on face offs and Hanover was 7-19. Sophomore MF Seven Davillier (Shreveport, La.) led the Gents in ground balls with nine and senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) had five. Ogier had four ground balls, senior D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) tallied three and Hewett and Spivey each had two.

Spivey took a team-high eight shots, Hewett took five, Cook took three, and Ogier two. Spivey took five of his shots on goal and Cook took two. Sophomore M Xavier Nixon (Dallas, Texas), junior D Kaleb Coates (Shreveport, La.), and Miller  led the way in caused turnovers with two each. The Gents finished with 15 caused turnovers and the Panthers tallied 20. Centenary turned the ball over 22 times and Hanover gave it away 15 times.

The Gents will be back in action on Sunday against Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. central time)
