Shreveport – The Centenary lacrosse team fell 13-5 to the Point University Skyhawks on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Mayo Field.

The Gents (1-6) and Skyhawks (3-6) were meeting for the first time. Point University is an NAIA school located in West Point, Ga. and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).

Centenary honored three of its seniors following Saturday's game - D Matthew Lulich (New Orleans, La.), senior LSM Jackson Ossman (Shreveport, La.), and Ben Vazquez (San Antonio, Texas). Senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) will be honored after the Gents' home finale against Colorado College on April 7.

The Skyhawks led 5-0 after the first quarter and outscored the Gents 7-2 in the second to take a 12-2 lead at halftime. The Gents then edged the visitors 2-1 in a low-scoring third period and 1-0 in the final 10 minutes but the early deficit was too much for the Maroon and White to overcome.

Point took 44 shots to Centenary's 32, won 18-22 face offs, finished with a 45-27 advantage in ground balls, and went 33-40 on clears. The Gents were 4-22 on face offs, 30-24 on clears, and turned the ball over 25 times while the Skyhawks gave it away 28 times.

Senior M Jordan Cook (Bryant, Ark.) led the Centenary offense with two goals, and sophomore MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.), sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas), and sophomore MF Seven Davillier (Shreveport, La.) each scored one. Junior Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) played all 60 minutes in goal and made 15 saves. Teagon Simons went the distance in goal for Point and made 10 saves.

Shaun McLaughlin led the Skyhawks and all scorers with five goals, Jeff Knapp and Aaron Mordarski each scored three, and Jamison Cross added two. Knapp added three assists and McLaughlin and Jarrod Posey each had one assist. Cook and freshman M Kai Panares (Houston, Texas) each had an assist for the Gents.

The Gents return to action next Wednesday as they face the Earlham College Quakers in a non-conference contest in Richmond, Ind.
