San Antonio, Texas – The Centenary men's soccer teams' season came to and end on Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 loss to the Trinity University Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at Paul McGinlay Field.

The Gents finish their 2023 campaign 4-9-3 overall and, 1-6-1 in SCAC play while the Tigers upped their record to 11-2-2 and 6-2 in league play. Trinity clinched the No. 2 seed in next weekend's SCAC Tournament in Houston.

Centenary, which fell 3-2 to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Friday at home on Senior Night, finished 3-4-1 at home this season and 1-5-2 in road and neutral contests.

Trinity took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute as Chen Adjei scored an unassisted goal and four minutes later, Jack Downes' third goal made it 2-0. Senior MF Hunter Booth (Harrodsburg, Ky.) scored the lone goal for the Gents, finding the net in the 32nd minute which cut Centenary's deficit to 2-1.

The Tigers took that 2-1 lead into the half and then added four second-half goals as Adjei scored his second goal at the 51:57 mark of the second half with the assist credited to Jack Eubank to make it 3-1 and roughly six minutes later, Michael Meese's goal made it 4-1.

Hunter Cain scored off an assist from Zachary Anderson in the 65th minute and Rylee Hawes' goal with an assist from Luke Chandler in the 88th minute for a 6-1 lead. The Tigers finished with a 34-2 edge in shots and took 16 corner kicks while the Maroon and White took just one. There were 12 fouls committed in the match, eight by the Tigers and four called on the Gents.

Junior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) started and went the distance as he recorded 10 saves. The Tigers played a pair of keepers as Austin Wilman got the win as he went the first 60:39, allowing Booth's goal, and Joshua Lynch played the final 29:21 and made one save. Clemo finishes the season as the Gents' team leader in saves (65) and recorded one shutout.

Centenary finishes the season with 22 goals, led by four from senior F Rene Escobar (Cypress, Texas), followed by three each from Booth and junior D Dylan Allred (Lafayette, La.). Junior F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) and senior D Adam Bihler (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each scored two goals and senior F/MF Michael Smith (Baton Rouge, La.), Escobar, Masti, and junior D Nick Valero (Dallas, Texas) finished as the team leaders in assists with two each.
