Magnolia, Ark. - The Centenary women's basketball team lost 101-50 to the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest inside the W. T. Watson Center.

The Ladies (0-4) fell behind 29-7 after one quarter and then were outscored 24-17 in the second period to trail the Muleriders (4-0) at halftime, 53-24. Southern Arkansas outscored Centenary, 48-26, in the second half to cruise to the victory.

Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) led the Ladies with 14 points and sophomore F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) joined her in double figures with 11. Sophomore G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) scored nine, junior G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) had eight, freshman G Mallory Dougharty (Evadale, Texas) scored six, and sophomore F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) chipped in two.

Jones led the Ladies in rebounding with nine and Bagwell grabbed seven. Powell had five boards, Barrow and Stokes each had three, and sophomore G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) had two but was held scoreless. Sophomore G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) was also held scoreless but had one rebound and one steal.

Bagwell played 29 minutes and finished 6-13 from the floor and 2-2 at the free throw line with an assist, a steal, and two blocked shots. Powell added an assist and a steal and was 3-11 overall, 2-4 from beyond the arc, and 4-8 at the FT line in 36 minutes. Barrow played 30 minutes and was 4-4 from the floor and 1-3 at the FT line with an assist.

Jones played 32 minutes and was 3-8 from the field and 2-2 at the FT line with two assists and a blocked shot, Dougharty played 21 minutes off the bench and was 2-5 shooting and 2-2 at the FT line with a team-high four assists and added one rebound and one steal. Stokes played 12 minutes and was 2-2 at the FT line with three rebounds.

Centenary shot 40 % (18-45) from the floor for the game and made 13-19 free throws for 68.4 % while connecting on one trey in six attempts. The Ladies outrebounded the Muleriders 42-31 but were hurt by 48 turnovers, leading to 60 points for Southern Arkansas.

The Muleriders shot 48.6 % (36-74) overall, 32 % (8-25) from beyond the arc, and 71 % (21-30) from the FT line. Southern Arkansas scored 50 points in the paint, 42 fast break points, 18 second-chance points, and received 62 points from its bench. The Ladies had 20 bench points, 28 points in the paint, 12 second-chance points and nine fast break points.

Four Southern Arkansas players reached double figures, led by 16 from Qua Chambers. Zykeria Anderson scored 14, Riley Stanford had 11, and Kyleigh Scoggins scored 10.

The Ladies will play a pair of games in the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 25-26 in Jackson, Miss. as the Maroon and White face Hendrix College at Noon on Nov. 25 and then the host Majors on Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
