The Ladies (4-4) and Tigers (0-12) are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. There is a chance of inclement weather arriving sometime on Saturday in the area so those games could be moved to Sunday or be played on Saturday but at different times.

Centenary and Trinity split four games last season, with the Tigers taking two of three in the regular season in San Antonio and the Ladies recording an 8-3 win in the opener of the 2021 SCAC Tournament in Kerrville, Texas.

The Ladies earned a doubleheader split with the Arlington Baptist University Patriots on Tuesday evening at home, winning game one 3-1 and dropping the nightcap by the same score. Centenary was playing on its home field for the first time since last spring after playing the first six games on the road. The Maroon and White went 2-2 in the 2022 Warrior Spring Fling hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. Feb. 19-20 after opening the season with a DH split with Millsaps on Feb. 5.

Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) pitched her first-career complete game in the game one win and picked up the first win of her young career and the Ladies pounded out 11 hits to seal the 3-1 win. Moss (1-0) allowed just one earned run on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts. She threw 74 pitches, 51 for strikes, in her third start of the season and longest outing so far.

Centenary collected at least 11 hits for the fifth-straight game, drew three walks, and stole three bases. Arlington Baptist took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Zoey Breadleau, but the lead did not last long as the Ladies responded with single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. Junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) smacked a game-tying RBI double to left field to score freshman DH Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.).

Senior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) drove in freshman 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) with a single in the third for a 2-1 lead and then Rivero capped the scoring with an RBI double scoring sophomore LF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) in the fourth and Moss made the lead stand.

Akers and freshman 1B Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) each had two hits to lead the Ladies' offense and Cox was 1-1 with a run scored, three walks, and two stolen bases from the leadoff spot.

The Patriots, like in game one, jumped out early 1-0 after an inning and then the game remained that way for the next five innings. ABU then added a pair in the top of the seventh and held off a late rally by the Ladies in the bottom half to secure the win.

The Ladies had a chance to tie the game in the fifth but Cox was thrown out attempting to steal home for the third out of the inning. Centenary left two on base in the third, fourth, and sixth innings as the Maroon and White put pressure on the Patriots throughout the game but could not cash in. Freshman P Anna Scarbock (Alexandria, La.) made her third start of the season and pitched a complete game as she allowed three runs, none earned, with a walk and four strikeouts.

Stout led the Ladies with two hits and five other players each had one. Stout, Cox, and junior LF Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) each stole a base. Dickey hit her first-career homer with one out in the bottom of the seventh to get the Ladies on the scoreboard and Patridge followed with a single but Rivero flew out and Lewis lined out to end the game.

The Ladies are hitting an impressive .352 as a team this season and averaging 5.5 runs per game. Their team OBP is .423, they are slugging .485 and have hit four home runs. Centenary has collected 20 extra-bae hits 113 total bases, and have 82 hits. The Ladies have stolen 12 bases and only been caught once. Cox leads the team with nine, Patridge has stolen two, and Stout one.

Six Ladies have 10 or more hits so far this season, led by 13 from Cox. Rivero has 12, Patridge and Lewis have 11, and Dickey and Stout have 10. Lewis is the team leader in RBI with eight and Rivero is next with seven. Moss leads the team in ERA (2.00) and wins (2). She is 2-0 with a complete game and a save in 21 innings of work.
