Centenary and TLU were meeting for the first time since the Bulldogs recorded a 2-1 victory on May 3, 2021 in the championship round of the SCAC Championship in Kerrville, Texas. The Ladies had their season-high five-game winning streak which was their longest since winning eight in a row from March 16-24, 2019.

Game one recap: TLU 5 Centenary 0

The Ladies were held to a season-low one hit as TLU starter Ashlyn Strother improved to 13-0 as she tossed a complete game, facing 23 batters as she threw 100 pitches, 70 for strikes. She walked one and allowed a single to junior LF Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) and a walk to senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.), both in the first inning and then retired the final 19 batters in a row to end the game.

The Bulldogs finished with nine hits and were led by LF Kelly Jurden's 3-4 effort with two RBI and three runs scored. 3B Chassety Raines finished 2-3 with two runs scored and CF Madison Johnson, 2B Casey Martin, and RF Bailey Hudgeons combined to go 2-8 with three RBI. Raines stole two bases and Jurden swiped one.

Strother struck out 13 which was impressive considering the Ladies entered the series as the second-best offensive team in the conference as they were hitting .336 as a team with an on-base percentage of .404 and a slugging percentage of .447. Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) suffered the loss for the Ladies to fall to 4-3 on the season. She allowed five runs, all earned, and nine hits in five innings with three walks and a strikeout. She threw 59 pitches (22 strikes) and faced 27 batters. Senior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) relieved Moss and pitched the final inning and retired the Bulldogs in order.

Centenary got its offense going early in game two as the Ladies scored a pair of runs in their first at-bat to take a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs, though, responded right away with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game. TLU went ahead 3-2 with a run in the third and the Ladies scored one in the top of the fifth to tie it, and the Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom half with a run and scored two in the sixth to complete the scoring.

The Ladies finished with seven hits while the Bulldogs had 11. Centenary made two errors, left six on base, but only struck out three times and drew three walks. TLU left eight on base, struck out four times, and walked twice. Freshman P Anna Scarbock (Alexandria, La.) suffered the loss for the Ladies as she fell to 2-8 and allowed six runs, five earned, and 11 hits in her six innings of work with two walks and four K's. She faced 32 batters and threw 89 pitches (55 strikes).

Amanda White started for the Bulldogs and went the first 2.1 innings and allowed two runs and two hits with three walks and two K's. Sydney Ouellette (6-3) came on in relief and picked up the win as she allowed just one earned run and five hits with no walks and one K in 4.2 innings of work. She faced 18 batters and threw 52 pitches, 34 for strikes. Five Bulldogs recorded multi-hit games led by three from Hudgeons, two of which were doubles. Jurden stole three bases and Martin stole one and had a triple.

Sophomore OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) and Patridge each had two hits and senior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) had a two-RBI double, Cox added a stolen base and a run scored, and Patridge also scored a run and walked once. Junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) and freshman DP Maggie Jenkins (San Diego, Calif.) each had one hit.

Wilkinson delivered a clutch two-out two-RBI double in the first inning to score Rivero and Patridge. White retired Cox on a groundout to begin the game but Patridge followed with a single and Rivero Walked. Lewis was retired on a flyout for the second out, but Wilkinson came through for the 2-0 lead. Cox singled to lead off the fifth and promptly stole second.
