New Orleans – Centenary sophomore right fielder Mackenzie Cox has been named to the 2022 All-Louisiana Softball team, earning Honorable-Mention honors, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced on Friday.

Cox (Alexandria, La.) turned in another superb season for the Ladies as she was named First-Team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and led the team in batting average, hits, OBP, and runs scored. She is the first Centenary player to make the team since Anna Dunn was named a First-Team selection in 2018.

She became the program leader in stolen bases in a season and in a career in the division III era (2012-present) and finished with 35 in 37 attempts for the season, ranking in the top 15 in the country, and now has an impressive 56 in 62 career attempts.

Cox only struck out 15 times in 119 at-bats while walking nearly as many times (12) and ranked in the top 10 in the SCAC in eight different statistical categories and posted 17 multi-hit games. She finished with a .420 batting average, .477 OBP and slugged .496 slugging. Cox totaled 50 hits, 37 runs scored, 12 RBI, five doubles, two triples and had a .960 fielding percentage.

Cox is one of only five players from a non-division 1 school to make the 2022 All-Louisiana Softball Team. This is the 36th season of All-Louisiana softball selections.
