Shreveport - The Centenary softball team dropped both games of a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon to the Trinity University Tigers, falling 12-3 and 9-1, both in six innings at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies fell to 4-7 and 0-3 in conference play while the Tigers, winless on the season entering the weekend, improved to 3-12 and 3-0 in SCAC action with the series sweep. Trinity opened the series with a 7-5 win on Friday night.

Game one recap: Tigers 12 Ladies 3 (6 innings)

Trinity erupted for seven runs in the top of the second and added four in the sixth as the Tigers pounded out 17 hits to cruise to the six-inning win. Trinity had four doubles, did not strike out, and had five players record multi-hit performances.

The Ladies scored two in the second and one in the third to cut the Trinity lead to 7-3, but the visitors added one in the fourth before the four-spot in the final inning. Centenary finished with nine hits but left six on base and committed two errors. Freshman P Anna Scarbock (Alexandria, La.) started and suffered the loss to fall to 1-5 on the season. She lasted just 1.2 innings and allowed seven runs, but only three earned, and six hits. She did not walk or strike out a batter and threw 34 pitches, 32 for strikes. She faced 12 batters and then was replaced by Senior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.). Hunter pitched the final 4.1 and allowed five runs, two earned, and 11 hits. She faced 26 batters and threw 47 pitches, 35 for strikes and hit one batter.

Trinity starter Emery Boettcher (1-6) pitched a complete game and got her first win of the season. She allowed all three earned runs and nine hits in her six innings of work with one walk and one strikeout. She faced 27 batters and threw 83 pitches, 49 for strikes.

Junior SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) and freshman 1B Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) each had two hits to lead the Centenary offense. Dickey had an RBI double in the second inning and Patridge scored a run as she recorded her fourth multi-hit game of the season. Sophomore LF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) finished 1-3, senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) was 1-3 with an RBI single, and sophomore RF Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) was 1-3 with an RBI double and scored a run.

Freshman 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) was 1-3 with a run scored and junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) went 1-3 with a stolen base. Freshman DP Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) was 0-2 with a walk. Five Trinity players finished with multi-hit games and five Tigers had two RBI apiece.

Trinity jumped ahead early with four runs in the top of the first and the Ladies scored one in the bottom half, but the Tigers scored the next five to secure their second-straight six-inning win.

The Tigers finished with 13 more hits in game two, giving them 30 for the day and had four players record multi-hit performances. Centenary finished with seven hits, did not strike out, but left 11 on base. Trinity left six on base and did not strike out for the second game in a row and each team made an error.

Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) started and took the loss for the Ladies to fall to 2-2 on the season as she allowed seven runs, six earned, and 10 hits in her four innings of work. She walked one and did not strike out a batter. Scarbock came in for Moss and went the final two innings, allowing a pair of earned runs and three hits with no walks and no K's.

Cat Patterson (2-4) started for the Tigers and went the distance as she allowed the one earned run and seven hits with two walks and no K's. She also hit two batters of the 30 she faced. RF Abigail Miller led Trinity's offensive attack with a 2-4 performance and five RBI with a double, a homer, and two runs scored. C Jessica Lloyd finished 4-4 with two runs scored, 2B Sammie Whitman was 2-4 and scored two runs, and DP Lanie Smith finished 3-4 with three RBI and scored a run.

Rivero finished 2-3 for the Ladies, Cox was 1-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored, senior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) was 1-4, Lewis was 1-2 with an RBI single, Stout went 1-2 and freshman Maggie Jenkins (La Mesa, Calif.) had a pinch-hit single in the sixth inning. Akers was 0-2 with a walk and freshman SS Brooke Sandefur (Baton Rouge, La.) was 0-1 with a walk.

Centenary will be back in action next weekend for a three-game conference series versus Austin College in Sherman, Texas. The Ladies and 'Roos will play a DH on Saturday, March 12 at Noon and 2 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday the 13th at Noon.
