The Centenary softball team will face No. 5 Texas Lutheran in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series this weekend beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 4 and 6 p.m. at Ed Kruse Stadium.

The Bulldogs (23-4, 9-0 SCAC) and Ladies (9-10, 3-6 SCAC) will complete the series on Saturday at 11 a.m. Centenary and TLU are meeting for the first time since the Bulldogs recorded a 2-1 victory on May 3, 2021 in the championship round of the SCAC Championship in Kerrville, Texas.
Centenary enters the series on a roll after the Ladies completed a three-game series sweep at home over the University of Dallas Crusaders last weekend, sweeping a doubleheader with 7-4 and 6-3 wins and then finishing the series with a 9-1 win in six innings. The Ladies have won five games in a row, marking their longest streak since winning eight in a row from March 16-24, 2019. The Ladies swept the Mississippi University for Women Owls in a non-conference doubleheader at home on March 19 with 3-0 and 4-3 wins.
Centenary and TLU are the top two offensive clubs in the conference as the Bulldogs are hitting .339 as a team and the Ladies are batting .336. TLU's on-base percentage is .426 and slugging percentage is .490 while the Ladies' OBP is .404 and they are slugging .447. The Ladies' 186 hits are tied for 36th in the country in division III and they have scored 102 runs, have 40 doubles, and 48 extra-base hits. Texas Lutheran has hit 19 home runs, 68 extra-base hits, and have 247 total hits and 183 runs scored.
Freshman P Katelyn Moss (Olive Branch, Miss.) had an outstanding weekend for the Ladies as the rookie pitched 9.2 total innings in two appearances versus Dallas and allowed just three earned runs and eight hits. She pitched her team-leading third complete game of the season in a 7-4 Ladies' win over in game one of the DH on March 26 as she allowed four runs, three earned, and six hits with a walk and a pair of K's in her seven innings of work. She then pitched 2.2 innings of relief in the Ladies' 9-1 win and allowed just two hits with one strikeout. Moss is 4-2 this season with a team-leading 3.10 ERA, three complete games, and one save. She currently ranks sixth in the conference in ERA.
Junior Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) ranks second in the conference in hitting with a .429 batting average and sophomore OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is third with a .418 average. Freshman DP Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) is seventh (.386) and had a big weekend at the plate for the Ladies as she
Patridge hit .363 (4-11) in the three games versus the Crusaders with two RBI, four doubles, and drew a walk. She also scored two runs and stole two bases. Cox went 4-11 with two RBI, two runs scored, two walks, and four stolen bases. She is tied for third in the conference in runs scored is tied for seventh in the country in division III in stolen bases with 23 and has only been caught once this season. Akers was 3-5 in the series versus Dallas with two RBI and a run scored.
Freshman 3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) are tied for the team lead in RBI with 15 and Lewis has a team-leading three homers, 10 doubles, and is hitting .364. Rivero is hitting .382 with a homer, six doubles, and has 26 hits on the season. Junior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) is having a fantastic seasom as she is hitting .368 (.446 OBP/.439 slugging) with 21 hits, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI. Stout has four doubles and four extra-base hits and has shown outstanding patience and discipline at the plate as she has only struck out four times and drawn three walks in 57 at-bats.
