Clarksville, Ark. - The Centenary women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the host University of the Ozarks Eagles on Saturday afternoon in the Ladies' season opener at Hurie Soccer Field.

The Ladies (0-1) and Eagles (1-0) battled for nearly 80 scoreless minutes in the non-conference contest until Savannah Solloway found the net for the home team at the 77-minute mark off an assist from Taliana Schmidt. Centenary allowed one goal or less for the 13th time in the last 21 matches dating back to the beginning of last season, but could not find the net on offense.

Junior GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) played all 90 minutes and recorded nine saves. The Eagles used a pair of keepers as Melanie Glossup (one save) and Kendal Wells (one save) each played a half with Wells getting the start and picking up the win. Ozarks out-shot Centenary 11-2 and took seven corner kicks to the Ladies' one. Centenary was whistled for five fouls and Ozarks two.

Senior MF Cynthia Williams (Bossier City, La.) and freshman F/MF Lowery Lain (Haughton, La.) each took one shot, and six Ladies played all 90 minutes. Solloway took three shots and her teammate Alexandra Kasper took a game-high four, all four on goal, but did not connect.

The Ladies return to action on Sunday against Hendrix College at 2:30 p.m. The Warriors were scheduled to face Westminster (Mo.) College on Saturday afternoon in their season opener.
