Hi Ladies fans! It’s freshman Brooke Murdock here for this week’s Gym Talk.

Last week as a team, we had the privilege of watching our senior Izzie Plaza read a poem for the “From Africa to the American Dream” event. The main speaker for the event was Dr. Kodjo Adabra. We really enjoyed the event and hearing his story.

Inside the gym, the Ladies have been KILLING IT! We are constantly improving every day as we get closer to season. On Sunday, we had a friendly competition for our half intrasquad. On the MAROON team, we had Willie, Hayden, Claire, Olivia, Amy, Emma, Rylie, and Lacey. On the WHITE team, we had Brooke, Emily, Sophie, Mylia, Roxy, Izzie, and Huff. Starting off with our VAULT SHAKERS, we had freshman Hayden, sophomores Olivia and Sophie, Junior Mylia, Senior Izzie, and our 5th-year Lacey. Shout out to Hayden Cagle (my roomie!!) for being able to recover from some previous ankle issues from earlier this year and make her stellar vault debut! And shout out to Izzie Plaza for her huge tsuk layout! Moving on to the BAR STARS! For line up, we had sophomores Claire Flores, Olivia Stratman, and Sophie Schmitz, as well as Senior Izzie Plaza. Shout out to Sophie for another HIT routine with a sky-high jaeger! Congratulations to our MAROON team for getting the most points in our competition! We cannot wait to watch these Ladies kill it at our next intrasquad in the Gold Dome on December 8th at 4:30PM! BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!!

We have been working diligently on our goals in and out of the gym, and we are so excited to be able to continue working on them and show it off this upcoming season!

This week, we are getting ready for our next half intrasquad this coming Sunday, which includes beam and floor. It is obvious how hard our BEAM QUEENS have been working as they are more than ready for this weekend! Our FLOOR ROARS have also been working hard and it is absolutely showing! Our landings are getting more consistent and we cannot wait for you Ladies Fans to see these routines!
