Shreveport - The Centenary gymnastics team earned a season-best 189.150 as the Ladies finished third in a tri-meet on Friday evening against Alaska Anchorage and Talladega College at the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (1-6) hosted the first of two meets this weekend as they celebrate 60 years of the sport on campus. Friday was also the annual Sylvia Keiter Memorial Meet and the entire weekend is a reunion and celebration of all Centenary gymnastics' alumnae as close to 50 former Centenary gymnasts are expected to be in attendance this weekend.
Talladega won the meet with a 192.200 and Alaska Anchorage was second with a 191.525. Talladega's Kyrstin Johnson won the All-Around with a 38.950.
The Ladies' best event scores of the meet came on both floor (47.350) and vault (47.350) and they finished with a 46.775 on bars and a 46.675 on beam.
BARS:
Sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) tied for sixth with a 9.625 and junior Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) tied for ninth with a season-high 9.525 while sophomore Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finished 11th with a season-high 9.425.
BEAM:
Sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) tied for third with a season and career-high 9.80 and senior Rylie Molina (Moss Bluff, La.) tied for sixth place and did the same as she recorded both a season and career-best 9.75. Schmitz placed 11th with a season-best 9.575 and freshman Brooke Murdock (Garland, Texas) finished 13th (9.425).
FLOOR:
Senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.) tied for third place with a season and career-high 9.75 and senior Isabel Plaza (San Antonio, Texas) tied for eighth place with a season-high 9.575.
VAULT:
Schmitz placed third on vault with a season-high 9.575, Plaza tied for fourth place with a 9.55, and Foret and sophomore Olivia Stratmann (Houston, Texas) tied for eighth place as each earned a 9.45.
The special weekend concludes on Sunday for a quad-meet against Alaska Anchorage, Talladega, and Greenville University at 12:30 p.m.
