Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: February 22 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: February 22 Edition

Hello Ladies Gymnastics Fans! It's junior Mylia Vidtor here with this week's Gym Talk.

The Ladies were very busy this week as they prepared to take off for another meet in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Ladies practiced Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare and traveled to Colorado on Thursday. When they landed they got to experience the Garden of the Gods for the first time as a team. We saw beautiful rock formations, hiked around, and even got a close encounter with some wildlife!

Then it was Friday, AKA MEET DAYYY! The Ladies started off the day strong by eating breakfast as a team. Soon afterward, we got our study hours in, then started to prepare for a great day and exciting meet! The Ladies wore a red ribbon and teal ribbon. The teal ribbon was to represent, Sylvia, and red ribbon was for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. It was so exciting to see what ribbons the other teams had on to represent their cause. The Ladies had a very energized warm-up and a lot of excitement coming into the meet. Our Bar Stars led us off and our Vault Shakers carried us home at the end of the meet. Shout out to the Ladies who scored career and season highs: Lacey Wedge scored a 9.725 on vault, Emma Lavelle scored a 9.675 on beam, and Olivia Williams scored a 9.6 on floor. GO LADIES! Overall the team had an amazing day!

The next day the Ladies had the opportunity to tour the Air Force Academy base. Exploring the athletic facilities, dorms, and learning about all the opportunities the cadets get to experience. The Ladies had a fun time getting to know some of the Air Force gymnasts and what they do outside of the sport of gymnastics.

We can't wait to see you all next week for Senior Night on Monday, February 26th for our final home meet of the season in the Gold Dome at 6PM. Check back next week as well, the seniors are going to tell you more! Go Ladies!
