Shreveport - The Centenary gymnastics team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies recorded identical season-high team scores in a pair of home meets this past weekend at the Gold Dome.
Centenary matched its season-best score of 189.150 as the Ladies finished third in a quad-meet on Sunday afternoon against Alaska Anchorage, Greenville University, and Talladega College at the Gold Dome.
The Ladies also earned a 189.150 on Friday night in a tri-meet against Alaska and Talladega. Centenary celebrated the 60th anniversary of the sport of gymnastics on campus and welcomed back a large group of alumnae throughout the weekend. Friday was also the annual Sylvia Keiter Memorial Meet.
SUNDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS:
BARS:
Sophomore Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) recorded a season-high 9.50 to finish eighth as she earned the Ladies' top finish and score in the event on Sunday.
BEAM:
Junior Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) recorded a season-high 9.65 on Sunday to tie for seventh.
FLOOR:
Freshman Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) earned a season-high 9.55 to finish 12th in Sunday's meet.
VAULT:
Senior Kendall Huff (Riviera, Texas) had the Ladies' best finish on Sunday as she tied for fourth place with a season-best 9.725. Senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.) recorded a season-best 9.675 to finish seventh, sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) earned a season-high 9.625 to finish 10th, and Sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) recorded a season-high 9.60 to tie for 11th place.
FRIDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS:
BARS:
Lavelle tied for ninth place with a season-high 9.525 and Flores finished 11th with a season-high (at the time) 9.425 which she bested on Sunday.
BEAM:
Foret scored a season and career-best 9.80 to tie for third place, and senior Rylie Molina (Moss Bluff, La.) also earned a season and career-best 9.75 to tie for sixth, and Schmitz earned a season-best 9.5755 to finish 11th.
FLOOR:
Wedge tied for third place with a season and career-high 9.75 and senior Isabel Plaza (San Antonio, Texas) tied for eighth place with a season-high 9.575.
VAULT:
Schmitz earned a season-high (at the time) 9.575 to finish third which she bested on Sunday.
The Ladies will hit the road to face the host Air Force Academy Falcons and UC-Davis in a tri-meet on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colo.
