Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 13 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 13 Edition

Hey Ladies Gymnastics Fans!!!!

It's senior Roxanne Myers here, reporting this week's recap for your favorite ladies. It's still early in the semester but the ladies ARE ON FIRE! We made it through a full week of classes, practice, and workouts and we are THRIVING. On Sunday, we set a goal on bars for all single-bar releases, and not only did we complete the goal, but we far surpassed it. The energy in the gym was untouchable, and nothing was stopping us from achieving what we set out to achieve. To celebrate our successful practice, we split into two teams and played some good ol' panel mat volleyball.

My team did indeed win and my roommates Rylie Molina and Emma Lavelle, who were on the opposing team, were only slightly salty that night. While we continue to put the work in at the Jills, we are maintaining our involvement on campus and supporting our fellow student-athletes. Rylie Molina, and I were line judges for the volleyball game on Wednesday night. Alongside us, Hayden Cagle, Emily McClung, Olivia Stratmann, and Mylia Vidtor worked as ball shaggers. It's safe to say we all learned a little bit about the game of volleyball that night. On Friday, Claire Flores, Emma Lavelle, Isabel Plaza, and Kendall Huff worked the women's soccer game fetching and sending soccer balls to ensure our soccer team was well taken care of at all times.

To continue our volunteer work, on Saturday, your entire ladies' gymnastics team helped work the annual Book Bazarr held on campus. Some of us worked to organize all the books on display, ensuring every book was easy to find. Others helped carry purchased books out to customers' cars. I worked as a cashier alongside my fellow senior, Isabel Plaza. Let's just say that although I greatly improved throughout the day, do not contact me for any money-counting services. It's a very humbling experience when a customer is waiting for their change, and you suddenly can't do simple math. It all worked out though, and the Book Bazarr was a smashing success, as always. This week we are growing our foundations both in the gym and in the classroom.

Wish us luck as most of us will take our first tests of the semester this week. But don't worry, we don't need luck because we always stay well prepared and take care of our studies first and foremost. That's it for this week's Gym Talk. Stay tuned for next week's recap by Lacey.

See you soon Ladies Gymnastics Fans,

Roxanne Myers
