ATLANTA - Centenary Ladies basketball (2-7) fell to Oglethorpe (6-3) 74-45 on day one of the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic in Atlanta.
The Ladies could not overcome 15-for-56 shooting (26.8 percent) and 24 turnovers that led to 26 points by the Stormy Petrels. Oglethorpe also used a 46-16 edge in points in the paint.
Freshman Darelzray Bellard hit double figures for the second-straight game, scoring a career best 13 points off the bench. Junior Jasmine Morris added 12.
Oglethorpe only shot 34.1 percent (28-for-82) from the field - including 1-for-18 (5.6 percent) from behind the arc - but used a 59-39 edge in rebounding. Lauren Ransom and Samantha LeGate both had 11 points and nine boards.
Centenary plays its final game before Christmas Tuesday, December 19, when it takes on Birmingham-Southern. Tip at Oglethorpe is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST (2 p.m. in Atlanta).
